Do you like seeing a black version of the Superman costume?
The black version of Superman’s costume, originally designed as a “recovery suit” after he ‘died’ at the hands of Doomsday in the comic books, has become a topic of discussion with the recent revelation that Zack Snyder plans to use it in his cut of the “Justice League” movie. While fans like the suit, they really only want to see it on rare occasions according to our most recent poll.

While I do like some variations of the black suit such as the Superman Beyond suit, and the Lois and Clark comic suit, I just think that he needs a reason to wear it. For example if the black suit helps in recovering his powers, or if it’s used to help with stealth missions. If I’m not mistaken, I believe that’s why Superman wore black in the Lois and Clark Superman comic series. Because there was still the new 52 Superman, and he wanted to help without people noticing him and realizing that there were two different Supermen flying around.… Read more »
I agree, give him a reason or don’t use it. There was all this talk about the black suit in the Snyder Cut. Snyder says Superman goes back and puts it on or something. Just some vague answers that were open ended. There was all this speculation that there were scenes shot and then cut out. But now we know he’s just going to color swap it in post. They didn’t film it, Zack stated he always had the intention of just changing it to black in post. No reason, no logic, just that scene we saw on the special… Read more »
🙂 I agree with what you say Clark_Jo, although we haven’t seen Snyder’s version of this movie. So there is the possibility that there might be a scene in this version that we haven’t seen yet that explains the reason for wearing the dark suit. Maybe we will find out more about it when DC Fandom arrives.
Maybe he walked past his red and blue suit because he realized that his powers aren’t at full strength yet, and has to wear the black one because it absorbs sunlight. It’s just a theory. But I do agree with you Clark_Jo. He should have a reason to wear it.
In small amounts, sure it’s fine. I remember liking the “royal suit” in Lois & Clark during their “New Krypton” arc. And I kinda like the black suit and beard look Real Superman sported before retaking his mantle in Rebirth.
