Superman T-Shirt Features in Upcoming “Shazam!” Movie

While there’s been a lot of speculation around whether Henry Cavill’s Superman will make an appearance in the upcoming “Shazam!” movie, we now know that the Man of Steel will have an influence on Billy Batson and his friends.

A new photo from “Shazam!” has been posted online showing young actor Jack Dylan Grazer as Billy’s friend Freddy Freeman. In the photo Freddy is wearing a “Man of Steel” Superman T-Shirt.

“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word – SHAZAM! – this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart – inside a ripped, godlike body – Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).”

“Shazam!” is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.

Having Freddy be a Superman fan is a nice nod to Jerry Ordway and could be a fun way to explain Captain Marvel Jr’s red and blue color scheme.

Is Captian Marvel Jr still featured in Shazam comics? I guess he would be called Shazam Jr because of legal reasons with Marvel.

I actually don’t know what his current status is.

I was so revolted by what they did to Mary Marvel before the relaunch and the New 52 re-design of Captain Marvel ..and yes that’s what I calling him because that’s his name. Shazam is the magic word and the name of the wizard. It’d be like calling Dan Garrett’s Blue Beetle Khaji Da or calling the first season Red Ranger Morphin Time! Though I understand the need to call the book or movie itself Shazam!

I have a feeling this film might surprise us and actually be a terrific and fun superhero movie. In a strange way I kinda hope it hits all the marks that for me Man Of Steel was lacking.
