“Superman” Sequel “Man of Tomorrow” May Return to Cleveland for Production

“Man of Tomorrow” applies for Ohio tax incentives under working title “Exodus”

Director James Gunn and star David Corenswet could be making their way back to Cleveland for the highly anticipated Superman sequel.

An application for the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit has been submitted for the “Man of Tomorrow” production, according to cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer. Listed under the working title “Exodus,” the project appears in the Ohio Department of Development’s latest database for the state’s film incentive program, which offers a 30% tax credit on eligible in-state production costs.

While there’s no official confirmation linking “Exodus” to the Superman sequel, several clues point in that direction. The working title follows the biblical naming pattern established by the first film, which used “Genesis” during production. Additionally, the application lists the same contact information as the original Superman project.

However, fans shouldn’t break out the capes just yet. The application’s status remains listed as “submitted” with no specific shooting locations confirmed. Approval for the tax credit also doesn’t guarantee the production will ultimately film in Ohio.

If greenlit, production is scheduled to begin some time in 2026. Cleveland previously served as a major filming location for Gunn’s Superman reboot, which launched the new DC Universe in 2025.

The Ohio tax incentive program has become increasingly popular with major productions looking to maximize their budgets while taking advantage of the state’s diverse filming locations and experienced crew base.

“Man of Tomorrow” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027. Filming is scheduled to begin this April in Atlanta.
