Superman Movies You’ve Seen – Poll Results

In the latest Superman Homepage Member Poll we asked you the following question:

Which Superman movies have you seen at the theater/cinema?

“Superman Returns” and “Man of Steel” are the two films most Superman fans have seen on the big screen, with “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Justice League” close behind. Interestingly, probably because most of you weren’t born when it came out, “Superman: The Movie” came in at fifth spot. Hard to believe a couple of people haven’t seen any of the Superman movies at the theater… ever!

I saw Superman Returns twice in the theater. One of those times was on opening day. It’s the first Superman movie that I have seen in the theater. 🙂
I wish that I could’ve seen any one of the Reeve Superman films. But out of all of them, I wish that I could see Superman the movie. It’s my favorite Superman movie as well as my favorite film. I hope that one day I will get a chance to see it on the big screen.

If you are ever in Seattle, check out the Cinerama. It’s currently closed for a renovation/public health concerns, but it’s one of the last three true Cinerama theaters in the world.
They often do special screenings of their 70mm film prints, and they have access to the Paul Allen Collection for their lobby displays of film costumes including movie-worn Christopher Reeve Superman suits.

Thanks afriend. If I’m ever in Seattle I will see if I can make a showing. 🙂

Coincidence that you mentioned Cinerama. My wife and I pulled “How The West Was Won” from our cd collection and watched it again just the other day. The ‘Making of…” bonus feature included the story of Cinerama. It was pretty impressive. I would love it if someone could do a restored (of the restored) version that would revitalize the pic (colors and smooth out the film grain) and smooth the overlapping lines of the three camera shots to where you don’t notice them as much. I’m sure it didn’t bother the patrons in the theater back then, but they are… Read more »

I wasn’t aware that the Donner cut of 2 was shown at a theater.

I am proud to say that have each of the films in the survey, plus the Kirk Alyn serials, and the Fleischer cartoons. However, I do not have a complete collection of all the animated films and cartoon shows..

I’ve seen them all and own them all. Anyone who hasn’t seen The Donner Cut, needs to.

I feel very lucky (if sometimes very old) to have seen Star Wars and Superman The Movie in theaters as a little kid. I’ve seen both films a gazillion times since then and they still hold a magic to them and I don’t think it’s *just* nostalgia either.

If we get past the current crisis and you have the chance definitely check out the movie in a theater. It’s the kind of movie that needs to be seen and heard BIG.

I’ve seen “Superman Returns” 2 times at the movie theater and “Man of Steel” 7 times at the theater. Both films were great experiences.
Then a couple of years after “Man of Steel’s” theatrical release, a there was a special big screen showing of “Superman The Movie” in Sacramento. So I was able to see that also on the big screen. All 3 films were fantastic experiences!

I’ve seen MOS, BVS and JL in theaters. In the case of MOS, I saw that film three times — that’s how much I enjoyed it. I looked at it as a new beginning for Superman and the battles at Smallville then Metropolis with Zod got me hyped — the music from Zimmer is another reason for that.

Agree with U 100% !! MoS was a total reboot. I was leery about them doing that after SR. The action scenes in MoS were off the charts. While I wouldn’t want to get into past comparisons, out of all the current superhero movies made in the last several years, I think MoS is at the top of the pile. To be fair, SR was right up there as well with the music and action as well.

I didn’t vote, but I’m in the majority with the first four vote results. Pretty much everything from Returns onward, I’ve seen in theaters at least once. The poll is a good way to gauge the average age of members here. I know the Chris Reeve/Donner films have had multiple showings as late as last week, but these are usually limited showings in the United States, so they’re hardly representative.
