Titled “The Big Picture”, the Warner Bros. Pictures Special Presentation gave those in attendance a look at the studio’s upcoming slate of films, including James Gunn’s “Superman”. The 2-hour panel ran from 4:30pm-6:30pm PDT on Tuesday, April 1.

During the presentation a five-minute preview of “Superman” offered attendees a glimpse into David Corenswet’s portrayal of the Man of Steel and set the tone for the upcoming film.

Cast Insights:

During the presentation, cast members shared which other DC characters they would like to play:
– David Corenswet expressed interest in Batman, referencing the animated series episode where Superman dressed up as Batman
– Rachel Brosnahan said she would choose Lex Luthor and would be willing to shave her head for the role
– Nicholas Hoult humorously noted that he had previously auditioned for both Batman and Superman roles without success

Thematic Focus:

James Gunn emphasized that the film celebrates kindness and human connection in an era where “the internet makes fun of kindness.” Gunn hopes audiences will leave the theater “loving the person you came in with a little more” and appreciating that kindness isn’t “cheesy.”

Corenswet shared that he wants viewers to finish the film and immediately want to “go through that ride again and again,” while Brosnahan highlighted that “there is something in it for everyone,” noting that Superman “does the right thing because it’s the right thing to do and it’s the cool thing to do.”

The footage and presentation suggest Gunn’s Superman will balance thrilling superhero action with heartfelt themes of compassion and humanity when it releases in theaters.

Fans will be able to watch the five-minute preview of the “Superman” movie during screenings of “A Minecraft Movie” this weekend.

“Superman” will be in theaters and IMAX nationwide on July 11, 2025, and internationally beginning 9 July 2025, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
