“Superman & Lois” Season 3 Synopsis, Photos and Lex Luthor

The CW has released a couple of official photos from the first episode of Season 3 of “Superman & Lois,” including our first official look at Michael Bishop as Jonathan Kent.

With the first half of filming done for the new season, the cast and crew are currently on a short break over the holiday season, and will return to film the second half of Season 3 early in the new year.

The official synopsis for the new season has also been released:

The third season of Superman & Lois opens weeks after Superman’s blowout defeat of Ally Allston. Clark (Hoechlin) and Lois (Tulloch) now are working at the Smallville Gazette together and enjoying small town life. But the Kents’ romantic bliss only shines a light on how isolating “the secret” can be, as Chrissy (Sofia Hasmik) struggles to balance a new love interest and her friendship with Lois. However, Lois’ own work-life balance is put to the test when an undercover assignment reveals a deadly foe that promises to change the Kent family forever. Superman would move heaven and earth for his family, but with a villain this merciless, even that might not be enough.

Meanwhile, the Kent boys find themselves being pulled in opposite directions as Jordan (Alex Garfin) discovers what a superhero-identity really means and Jonathan (Michael Bishop) searches for purpose beyond the football field. Amid all this upheaval, John Henry (Wolé Parks) is haunted by his doppelgänger’s past, leading to dangerous consequences for him and Natalie (Tayler Buck). Lana Lang (Emmanuelle Chriqui) and Kyle (Erik Valdez) redefine their family post-separation, while Sarah (Inde Navarrette) explores what the future holds for her and Jordan now that she knows the truth about his powers. Having learned the hard way that no one else can be trusted to work with Superman, General Samuel Lane (Dylan Walsh) reclaims his post at the Department of Defense, only to face his own conflict in working with his grandson, Jordan.

Rumors of Lex Luthor being introduced in Season 3 of “Superman & Lois” appear to be true, with Jon Cryer (who played the role on the “Supergirl” TV series) confirming that he was informed that the show would be casting another actor in the role for this TV series.

Jon Cryer wrote on Twitter, “For the record, the folks at DC were very cool and gave me a heads up that the show was going a different way with character before they started looking. Most of the time, actors learn about this stuff when it comes out in the trades. I’m grateful they were classy about it.”

“Would’ve been fun. But l’m not sure I could’ve played Lex on Superman & Lois even if they wanted to do this. I’m supposed to start shooting a new series for NBC in February.”

Chad L. Coleman spoke to the Good Day Sacramento show to talk about his role as Bruno Mannheim in the upcoming third season, saying it’s the most amazing role he’s ever played.

So it’s possible that Lex Luthor aka “the greatest criminal mind of our time” will be coming to Smallville to cause Superman and Lois some problems in season 3 of series. I’m very excited now! 😀
