As per usual I didn’t agree with you guys overall take on this episode. It’s not that I don’t recognize any flaws whatsoever but from my perspective you generally tend to come off as overly harsh and critical. > However there was one point in particular of Julian’s whilst listening to your podcast that I agreed was an issue. Then a couple of hours later I realized it wasn’t or at least I think I can see what the writer’s intent was even if the storytelling “connective tissue” wasn’t quite strong enough to get that intent across the line. >… Read more »

Well, for me (for whatever it’s worth), it’s not that she made the leap that is, to me, the problem. Nor is it (at all) the idea that the leap is made without telling the audience it’s been made. My honest preference is to not tell the audience almost anything unless you absolutely must. “Show, don’t tell.” Right? The problem is that IF she made that leap, it isn’t clear outside of “the plot needs this, so away we go!” There is no catalyst — and a catalyst is essential for something that remains unsaid. A good example. A child… Read more »

Neil I don’t know what show you have been watching but these last 2 episodes of Superman & Lois have been just as good as the last few. I mean seriously this episode was not that bad. I give a 9/10 or a 4/5

Hey Neal. I read what you said in your review last week where you said, “I just made a mistaken assumption that they were going for a black Luthor.“ I don’t think that your assumption was mistaken at all Neal. The writers just lead everyone to believe that Luthor was black, so that we wouldn’t think that Luthor was actually Irons. I admit that I should’ve known that “Luthor” was actually John Henry Irons from the title of the episode “ Man of Steel”, but it never occurred to me until I saw the episode. So prior to the recent… Read more »

I’m with you there. I’m very eager to see more of this show, and it’s my fondest hope they put as much work into the craft as they do these awesome plot twists, and the work they put into keeping the audience engaged. Clearly that’s working very well.

I’m almost positive Irons will become an ally. I’d be surprised if they kept him a villain at all.

With what we’ve seen so far with John Henry Irons story and what has been revealed, I find that I just want to know more about this version of the charature. He knows Superman’s Kryptonian name Kal-el, but when Clark showed up on his security camera in his RV and when he saw Clark in person with Lois, he didn’t seem to know that Clark and Superman are the same person. So how does he know the name Kal-el? How does he know the Kryptonian laguage? Will we see a flashback of Iron’s fight with the evil Superman? I’m so… Read more »

And what about John’s daughter? Did she survive her earth? If she did, will she show up again? If she meets Lois would she call her mom? Would Lois become a surrogate mom to her? How would Clark and Lois feel about a Lois from another universe having had a daughter with someone other than Clark? How would this affect Clark and Lois’s relationship? Would the child of John Henry Irons and Lois treat Jonathan and Jordan as her brothers? Would Jonathan and Jordan treat her as their sister? Is her name Natasha like in the comics? I didn’t catch… Read more »
