The Man of Steel captures global audience attention as Warner Bros. dominates year-end rankings
IMDb has released its highly anticipated year-end lists for 2025, and “Superman” has claimed the top spot as the world’s most popular movie of the year, based on page views and search activity from 250 million monthly users worldwide.

The superhero reboot, which hit theaters in July, sustained massive audience interest throughout the year, ultimately outpacing all other films in IMDb’s annual rankings. The film’s star, David Corenswet, also earned recognition on IMDb’s Most Popular Stars list at #9, reflecting the continued fascination with the new face of the iconic DC hero months after the film’s release.
Warner Bros. enjoyed a particularly strong year, claiming an unprecedented four spots in the top four positions of IMDb’s movie rankings. Following “Superman” were “Weapons” (#2), “Sinners” (#3), and “One Battle After Another” (#4) — a remarkable sweep that underscores the studio’s dominance in capturing audience attention throughout 2025.
Isabela Merced, who played Hawkgirl, topped IMDb’s Most Popular Stars list for 2025. In her response to the honor, Merced joked: “Thank you to everyone who clicked on my IMDb page to confirm whether I was actually in Superman. Relieved I updated my profile picture just in time.”
The full top 10 movies list includes a mix of franchise returns and original films, with “Jurassic World: Rebirth” (#5), “Frankenstein” (#6), “Happy Gilmore 2” (#7), “Thunderbolts” (#8), “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” (#9), and “F1: The Movie” (#10) rounding out the rankings.
These rankings, powered by IMDbPro’s exclusive MOVIEmeter data, reflect what global audiences couldn’t stop searching for and discussing throughout the year — and in 2025, Superman’s return proved to have the most enduring appeal.
