Warner Bros. achieves unprecedented theatrical milestone with Superman leading the charge
Superman has done more than just soar at the box office – he’s helped Warner Bros. make history. James Gunn’s “Superman” opened to $125 million domestically, becoming part of Warner Bros.’ unprecedented streak of seven consecutive releases opening above $40 million, a feat no other studio has ever achieved.
The Man of Steel’s box office performance has been nothing short of spectacular. “Superman” has earned $613 million globally and is expected to generate around $125 million in theatrical profits, making it a cornerstone of Warner Bros.’ remarkable 2025 turnaround.
This success marks a dramatic reversal of fortune for the studio, which struggled with flops like “Joker: Folie a Deux” in 2024. The turnaround began with “A Minecraft Movie” in April and continued through the summer with “Superman” serving as a key pillar in the studio’s historic winning streak.
“Warner Bros. is having a fantastic run,” says analyst David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research. “The studio made outstanding choices and took some big creative risks, and they’re paying off.”
The Superman reboot’s success has not only vindicated James Gunn’s vision for the new DC Universe but also secured Warner Bros.’ position as a box office powerhouse heading into 2026, with more DC adventures including “Supergirl” and “Clayface” on the horizon.
