Ever wondered what might be playing in Clark Kent’s headphones?
Ahead of the highly anticipated release of “Superman” on July 11, Spotify has teamed up with DC Studios and filmmaker James Gunn to curate a series of playlists for the film’s cast of characters including Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Green Lantern.
.@Spotify asked me to create playlists for many of the characters in #Superman, imagining the music each of them listened to. I haven’t had more fun this year.https://t.co/uVvS4TIUxv pic.twitter.com/C3gXnCUiRE

As of today, fans can check out curated song selections on Spotify for characters Clark Kent, Lex Luthor, Eve, Metamorpho and The Engineer. Filmmaker James Gunn has hand-picked songs for each character and recorded audio clips explaining his selections, all available to stream in the playlist.
- Clark Kent: A tracklist packed with edgy, feel-good anthems like “Don’t Stop Believin” by Journey and “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World that keep Superman flying high.
- Lex Luthor: An eclectic mix to fuel a villain’s ego, including songs like “Fame” by David Bowie and “This Town Ain’t Big Enough for Both of Us” by Sparks.
- Eve: Featuring songs like “Manchild” by Sabrina Carpenter and “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift, this tracklist channels Metropolis’ it-girl energy.
- Metamorpho: A mix of moody synths with a melancholy edge, this list includes “Digging Your Scene” by The Blow Monkeys and “I Was Never a Normal Boy” by Nightmare of You.
- The Engineer: A dark, serious playlist pulsing with mechanical beats, with songs like “La Mer” by Nine Inch Nails and “Archangel” by Burial.
Check out a video clip from James Gunn explaining his creative process (“I probably had more fun doing this than anything else I’ve done in the past couple of years… I had to really think about who they were as people and imagine what kind of music they’d be into.”).
Playlists for the rest of the characters will drop over the coming week – look out for Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen on July 8, and Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl and Green Lantern on July 11.

I like the engineers choices. Nin and Burial tune is great. Also love bowie
