Earlier this month Spotify teamed up with DC Studios and filmmaker James Gunn to curate a series of playlists for the “Superman” movie cast of characters. Now the rest of the character playlists are available.
Fans can now tune into song selections and audio notes from James Gunn for Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, and Ultraman on the Official Superman playlist.
Also as a fun musical note – Spotify streams of “Punkrocker (feat. Iggy Pop)” by Teddybears—the movie’s closing track—also increased 530% this week in the U.S..
Check out the details below!
- Lois Lane: James Gunn’s personal favorite to make—a punk-rock mix with songs like “I Was A Teenage Anarchist” by Against Me! and “Pash Rash” by Jeff Rosenstock that delivers raw, anarchic energy.
- Jimmy Olsen: Breezy hits like “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)” by Looking Glass and “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” by Paul Simon—Jimmy’s favorite songs, but to everyone else, a snapshot of his love life in a nutshell.
- Mister Terrific: A dynamic blend of intricate musicianship and adventurous energy, featuring tracks like “Cafo” by Animals as Leaders and “Shibuya (feat. San Holo)” by Covet and San Holo that invite you into a world of bold, experimental soundscapes.
- Hawkgirl: A fearless mix of indie cool and bold attitude, this list includes “San Diego” by Hinds and “whathegirlmuthafuckinwannadoo (feat. Janelle Monáe)” by The Coup and Janelle Monáe that blend raw emotion with unapologetic edge.
- Green Lantern: Rowdy and brash, this tracklist features hits like “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” by AC/DC and “Batwitdaba” by Kid Rock.
- Ultraman: Featuring explosive Japanese metal tracks like “Marionette” by Mary’s Blood and “Nippon Manju” by LADYBABY, this playlist hits as hard as Ultraman’s punches.
Starting today, the covers of the Superman Official Playlist will also adapt to match listeners’ music taste, revealing which Superman character aligns most closely with them.
