Snyder Confirms New Remastered “Batman v Superman” Blu-ray Release

In an interview with the I Minutemen YouTube channel, Zack Snyder has confirmed that a new remastered edition of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be released on Blu-ray.

“I just approved the Blu-ray box the other day,” Snyder said. “So for sure it will exist on Blu-ray, and then I think it will exist on HBO Max. I have to confirm now, but for sure we’ve been talking about the release.”

This remastered edition of the film is said to restore the IMAX aspect ratio of the film, while also fixing some of the 4K visuals.

“It’s meant to, especially for the special edition, it’s to replace the one that was kind of messed up a little bit.” He add, “I remember watching it on Apple movies or wherever it was, or somewhere, and going, ‘Wait, what? That’s not correct.’ The reds were all blocked up, it was really weird.”

The “Ultimate Edition” of the film was released on Blu-ray in 2016, featuring 30 additional minutes of previously unseen footage that helped fill out some plot holes.

Snyder posted a video on his Vero social media account showing an early portion of the film’s “Knightmare” scene featuring Ben Affleck as Batman. The footage is shown in the longer 1.43:1 aspect ration as opposed to the film’s original 2.35:1 ratio. The clip is also considerably lighter, with a different color grading.

I’d be interested to see this, but to be perfectly honest, I’m not really willing to buy the Blu Ray *again* just for this, unless it’s a special edition that goes for, like, a quarter of the price. It’s a pity, because outside of HBO Max (which isn’t available here), streaming services are a bust too; Netflix still only offers the theatrical cut of BvS, which is criminal.
