The CW has announced that Sarah Smyth, who has appeared in “50/50”, “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief”, and “Lockdown”, has been cast in the role of Lydia Lockwood for Season 4 of “Supergirl”.
Lydia Lockwood, is the mother of Ben Lockwood set to be played by Sam Witwer. As we’ve reported earlier, Witwer (who played David Bloom on “Smallville”) has been cast to play the role of Ben Lockwood, aka Agent Liberty. Xander Berkeley will be playing Lydia’s husband, Peter Lockwood.
While Peter Lockwood is described as “a middle-class factory owner struggling to make ends meet in a world that’s rapidly changing due to the rise of aliens from outer space living amongst us. A proud and single-minded, a family man who’s dedicated his life providing for people. The seeds of his discontent sows the beginning of an anti-alien wave.” It is unknown at this point in time whether his wife will share his opinions and join him in his crusade.
Season 4 of “Supergirl” will premiere on The CW on Sunday, October 14 at 8.00pm.

Makes sense. It’s been turning into an all women’s show!
How? She’s joining Sam Witwer and Xander Berkeley (both men) as a member of a family.
Noted…we will see how they play into this seasons episodes.
Superman doesn’t fear and hate strong women. Why do you?
This isn’t about hating or fearing anything. It’s about nonsense where they have turned a “theme” into a normal environment. The theme being that women are these destruction machines capable of destroying and beating the daylights out of all male appointed environments!
Yet ANOTHER Smallville alum joining the Arrowverse (and specifically Supergirl, which continues to lead the pack of the Arrowverse in terms of legacy casting) !!! Sarah played Dan Turpin’s wife, Suzie, in “Bulletproof” !!! So cool that this Smallville alum is playing another Smallville alum’s mother too!!!
But… she’s 5 years YOUNGER than Sam Witwer. How exactly is she supposed to be his mother?
Maybe she features in flashbacks?
May-December relationship? Older man, much younger woman, a la Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones?
