Rumor – Bringing Back Christopher Reeve’s Superman in Holographic Form

There’s been a little bit of buzz over the past day or so over the idea to bring back Christopher Reeve’s Superman in “holographic” form.

Jack O’Halloran was a special guest at a screening of “Superman: The Movie” in Beverly Hills, California on October 9, where he answered fan questions, spoke about his role as Non, and discussed a project he hopes to develop with Warner Bros.

“We have a plan in motion to try to bring Christopher [Reeve] back through hologram technology,” he told the audience. “We’ve got something really super up our sleeve with the storyline. You’re going to really, really love it.”

Before you get too excited, this “hologram” idea is just that – an “idea”. I have it on good authority that Jack hasn’t yet spoken with Warner Bros. about it, nor has he pitched a proposal. It’s highly doubtful Warner Bros. would entertain the idea of producing a new movie that recreates the original cast in digital or “holographic” form, but we love that Jack continues to honor the legacy of the Christopher Reeve Superman movie series every opportunity he gets.

I’m picking Brandon Routh as my first choice for the voice of superman if this project gets made. My second choice would be Tim Daly.

I am all in for this idea!!!

I said the same thing. Ughh! Gonna take a while for my heart to mend after all that cgi catastrophe. I’m like please don’t ruin Chris Reeve either. I am begging DC don’t do this.

Everyone misses Chris Reeve so ya can’t blame the man for wishful thinking, but not sure that’s a good idea. I mean they couldn’t get the Cgi mustache right so I don’t trust DC/WB right now and won’t for a while. To see superman done so horribly really broke my heart. So WB/DC has a lot of making up to do in my book when it comes to superman. Out of all the DCEU heroes I feel superman got screwed over the most and big time JS!

What could be possible is an animated Pixar style film featuring Christopher Reeve’s Superman battling the Kryptonian villains. But Warner Brothers appears to be happy right now just sweeping Superman under the rug, except for cartoons and cameo appearances on “Supergirl” where he is totally wasted and underused. Those involved in the first two Superman films keep the legacy alive. Jack is a great ambassador for the series. If Warner Brothers was smart, which they surely are not, they should have another Superman film with Henry Cavil and then end with Supergirl showing up and then begin filming a Supergirl… Read more »

What if they hire the guy who does the Superman vs Hulk videos? His work on the Reeve Superman is very good. Those videos of his proves that it can be done.

Bring him back through “holographic technology”?? This on going, “over admiration”, of CR is IMO, getting a little bit creepy. It’s fun to look back once in a while but I think after 40 years it’s time to let it go. Half the reason they’ve had such a hard time trying to establish and update Superman on the big screen is the refusal to let CR’s legacy rest.

There is a good reason for that. Christopher Reeve may be dead but the legacy his Superman left is very much alive. Like it or not.

I’m with you on this one redcape, and those movies just don’t hold up, just let it go and quit with the nostalgia already.

I would also point out that there is a cgi of the Reeve Superman rebuilding the shattered crystals in his fortress of solitude. I know it’s on YouTube somewhere. It’s really good.

Here is a link to that cgi Superman I mentioned. I don’t own the rights to this, nor did I have any involvement in creating this video. Any credit in making this film should be given to those responsible in making this film. This is something I just found online and thought that it would nice to share.

They did the same with Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia and Peter Cushing’s Grand Morf Tarkin in Rogue one and it looked creepingly good. It all depends on what sort of story we will have and how it will be incorporated into modern settings since most of us grew up in the 70s and 80s on Chris’s image and portrayal of Superman. I honestly have no problem to keep the legacy alive since he was also the quintessential icon and custodian of the character. I just hope WB will NOT screw this up and honour this wonderful human being and superhero… Read more »

I guess it’s also how they present the cgi as well. I don’t think a cgi version would work well with live actors. However if all characters are cgi as well as Superman, then I believe it will work.

But who knows. I’m up for giving any Superman movie or show a chance. And I admit I’m a bit bias when I say that I am for this project to happen, since I’m a huge Reeve Superman fan.
But can anyone really blame me for that? I just feel it would be really nice to see another adventure of the Christopher Reeve Superman again in a movie or a series of some kind. That’s just my honest opinion though.

-2? And what’s wrong with being a fan of the Christopher Reeve Superman? Truthfully I can’t think of a reason to down vote my comment other than it’s just a couple of bullys who are picking on me for no reason. I ask, is this fair that whoever you two are, that you should down vote my comments just for being a Reeve Superman fan? He played Superman. The greatest superhero. He is considered one of the best actors to ever play the Man of Steel. So are you down voting because I’m a fan of his, or is it… Read more »

And so you’ve proved my point. You may call yourself a Superman fan, but would a Superman fan be a cyber bully? I think you just answered my question. Think about that. And by the way the answer to that question is no. A Superman fan wouldn’t be cyber bullying other people.

I noticed that it will boost up your number from a -1 to a 0. If I could give you more positive on the votes believe me I’d vote to boost it up even more. But since I can’t, I will type it in.
Here is your positive number superhero. 1

For the record I’m not dissing CR or his legacy. But it has been 40 years and if I want to be that connected then I’ll take a trip over to capedwonder.com. That site is totally and ONLY devoted to CR. I’m far more concerned about where were going from here with Superman.

This is my last comment for this topic. I know that there are some of you that don’t agree with what I have to say, but I will say it anyway. I believe that what the world needs now is a new Reeve Superman movie. Yes it won’t be entirely Christopher Reeve, but if we have the technology to bring him back through cgi(which has been proven in the Superman vs hulk animation), with the right voice for the animation, and the right script, then they should make this video. I believe that this should happen. We need need this… Read more »

I have the utmost respect for Chris (despite never having been too fond of his Superman, for reasons unrelated to him) and it is because of this that this idea creeps me out. It’s a personal thing, I’m not moralizing or saying this is the case for everyone, but it doesn’t sit well with me. I can’t even read a Gary Frank-penciled Superman comic book, because I feel ghoulish.
