I’m all for diversity but changing existing character’s skin color? That’s like changing Black Panther’s skin to white. It’s better to add a new POC character. (Similar to what Marvel did when they created Morales Miles)

Oh, bless your little souls you who voted for “need for diversity”, you sweet summer children. While representation (which is a far more appropriate term than “diversity”) is indeed a good and even necessary thing in super-hero films, WB doesn’t care for representation. If they did, they wouldn’t have crippled Cyborg, who could’ve been the first tentpole black super-hero since Blade. They also wouldn’t have cut out the John Stewart cameo from Justice League. They would’ve also moved forward with Static Shock or Black Lightning or even Mr. Terrific. Or they could’ve picked Val or Calvin. Or they could’ve made… Read more »

Damn right Steel was the Black Superman. Hell they tossed him out. I’m sick of WBs nonsense. Talking about dare to defy. More like Dare to Deny the fact that they’re full of primordial caveman soup. Ain’t nobody stupid. I see the nonsense they put out which contradicts their so called efforts. It’s about the Benjamins and praying on ignorance.

Yeah I find the motivations dubious as well. Besides politics and chasing Twitter I think it’s the usual blaming the character instead of their own decisions for previous misfires. Only now I guess they’ve decided that Superman’s skin color makes him a “hard sell” whereas before it was that he wasn’t Batman enough.

Well……political correctness and diversity, are pretty much running neck and neck right now with everything. This ridiculous theme of re-making everything that was originally done one way, must now be “re-imagined”. You can bet they won’t be re-imagining anything that was successful with Black lead(s). This new Phonywood theme, is out of control throughout the entire liberal industry.

Nobody’s is asking for a black Superman. Just create another iconic character in the Superman Universe who can rival the current Man of Steel and he’s black. I was done with WB when they made Mr. Terrific LGBTQ and hip hopped the hell out of Black Lightenin. I’m so tired of the constant pigeon holing, stereotypes and pretending that it’s all for inclusiveness yet all traditional black family values are thrown out, and Hollywood is acting like they’re throwing us a bone. No, a black Superman is not overdue. A black iconic superhero that is like Superman is overdue. Yeah… Read more »

That was excellent!! As far as a Black character I thought they could have gone a long way with, was Cyborg.

They’re ruining this entire industry with all the manipulation. And by the time they figure it out, they’ll be broke. They’re creating a degree of division that will never come together. It’s poison on TV as well. The notion they need to correct something that never needed correction, is going to take this industry right over a cliff.

If they really cared at all about diversity they would make a movie with a pre existing black character. If it really mattered to them it would be an Icon and Rocket movie, or John Stewart GL, or Static, or Cyborg, Or John Henry Irons or any number of other black characters that aren’t just a race swapped hand me downs. if anything this race swapping BS is even more insulting than not having any there in the first place. It’s like saying that our characters aren’t good enough to be recognized, we aren’t good enough to stand on our… Read more »

Well the entire industry has gone off the rails. It’s one sided and if you want to play in it, YOU MUST CONFORM!. Recently, Syder was interviewed and was asked about a Black Superman. He responded, “a Black Superman is overdue”. One would have to ask, why would he say that?. Can you imagine if he said anything else?? It would be “automatic cancel” for Synder if he said anything other. THAT’S what’s driving this puke and nonsense. It’s total subservience or your destroyed without any defense.

First let’s all remember this is a multi-verse Superman, it’s not replacing Clark. But next remember this: SUPERMAN IS AN IDEAL, he is what we strive for, the best characteristics of the human race, he is an embodiment of our hopes & desires. His race, ethnicity, skin color, none of these make him who he is, our dreams make him Superman. That’s why dark brooding Superman doesn’t work even though he’s white….

I mean, sure, he’s an ideal, that’s why dark brooding Superman works despite the grim framework; the problem I personally have here (one of, at least) is that they don’t seem to be working that angle. He will be replacing Clark as the main Superman and he will be less about the universal ideal and more about… specific things. At least that’s what we can assume from statements and the core talent currently employed.

With lame idea’s like this, I believe that the description of, “core talent” is being E-X-T-R-E-M-E-L-Y generous.
