While most of the casting discussions for the upcoming “Superman: Legacy” film have been focused on who will be playing Superman/Clark Kent, the role of Lois Lane is just as hotly debated, with names like Emma Mackey and Samara Weaving amongst those who have reportedly auditioned for the part.
Also amongst those in contention is Rachel Brosnahan, best known as the star of Amazon Prime’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”. The 32 year old actor may be on the older side of what is supposed to be a story about a younger Superman, but there’s no doubting Brosnahan can easily play younger than her years.
Talking on The View, Brosnahan wouldn’t confirm or deny whether she has tried out for the part of Lois Lane. “Take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt is my first piece of advice.”
However, if she were cast in the role, she admits it would be a dream come true. “Look, it would be extraordinary; I grew up watching Lois Lane, this incredibly talented journalist, who is far from a damsel in distress and I would jump at the chance if it arose.”
Earlier in the week James Gunn himself took to Twitter to state that he would “never comment on who is or isn’t AUDITIONING for a role. That’s the actor’s business only & isn’t something I’d make public unless they did it first after the fact.”
“Superman: Legacy” is scheduled to be released July 11, 2025.
