Rachel Brosnahan appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last night where she spoke about believing she has a travel curse, almost missing her flight to audition for Lois Lane in “Superman” and having to pay a witch to remove her curse before the press tour for “Superman”.
Jimmy and Rachel Brosnahan play a game where they are blindfolded, told lyrics to different songs and have to find a microphone stand to finish singing the song.
Brosnahan described her travel curse as making every journey “never not as stressful as humanly possible”. While she always managed to reach her destination, the process was consistently fraught with difficulty. She recounted instances like an “apocalyptic snowstorm” hitting a two-lane highway to an airport in New Mexico, almost preventing her from making a film premiere in Cannes. Another time, she was stuck at LAX for eight hours while her castmates had smooth flights to the Paris Olympics. The curse was so notorious that even Peter Safran, who co-runs DC Studios, refused to travel with her. Brosnahan noted that people often didn’t believe her until they experienced the chaos firsthand.
Feeling “really desperate” ahead of the *Superman* promotional tour, Brosnahan began seeking an “energy healer” or “past life reader”. She eventually connected with a witch through a friend. The witch, who brought a wishing well and a wand, came to Brosnahan’s house and, importantly, “signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA)”. Brosnahan shared details of her “travel trauma” with the witch, who seemed “pretty skilled and ready to take it on”.
In a testament to the witch’s work, Brosnahan happily reported that the curse was lifted. She successfully travelled “around the world” for the *Superman* press tour without incident, a feat she attributes to the intervention. The actress now firmly believes in “witches and curses”. She even joked that the sheer chaos she endured during her audition travel for the Lois Lane role—which involved frantic running through JFK airport after multiple flight delays and cancellations—might have made her seem “Lois Lane coded,” ultimately helping her land the part.
“Superman” is currently showing in theatres and IMAX.
