“DC Super Hero Girls” Special 1-Hour Movie – “#SweetJustice” – Kicks Off Exciting New Series From Emmy Award–Winning Producer Lauren Faust

Airing Friday, March 8 (6pm ET/PT) Across All Cartoon Network platforms including CN App and On Demand

New Episodes to Air Sundays (beginning 3/17) at 4pm ET/PT

When six ordinary girls meet and discover that they each have extraordinary powers, they decide to join forces to take on one of Metropolis’s most sinister villains.

DC Super Hero Girls stars the voices of Tara Strong (Teen Titans Go!) as Batgirl, Grey Griffin (Unikitty!) as Wonder Woman, Kari Wahlgren (Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz) as Zatanna, Nicole Sullivan (MADtv) as Supergirl, Kimberly Brooks (Voltron) as Bumblebee and Myrna Velasco (Elena of Avalor) as Green Lantern Jessica Cruz.

DC Super Hero Girls is an all-new animated action-comedy series from Warner Bros. Animation and based on characters from DC. Featuring fresh character designs and storytelling from Emmy Award–winning producer Lauren Faust (Super Best Friends Forever, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends).

The world may know them as Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl, but not-so-typical teenagers Diana, Kara and Barbara, alongside their Super Hero friends have much more to deal with than just protecting the citizens of Metropolis from some of the most sinister school-aged Super-Villains of the DC Universe. After all, being teens is tough enough, what with school, friends, family and the chaos that comes with managing a social life. But add super powers and a secret identity to the mix, and things can get a lot more complicated.

Lauren Faust is executive producer with Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) also serving as executive producer.

The new series is a global initiative with Cartoon Network and builds on the successful DC Super Hero Girls global franchise which inspires girls to embrace their unique abilities and harness the power of teamwork and diversity to discover their true potential. In addition to the new series, fans will also be treated to fresh storytelling in 2019 with new YouTube shorts, graphic novels, games, as well as a brand-new product line across multiple categories.

This show is so great. The animation, the voice work, the pacing, the humor… all a huge improvement over the previous series… which was fine for little kids, but this is much more appropriate for a wider audience. I hope they get ten seasons! Can’t imagine we won’t see Streaky and other members of the Superfamily at some point.

I’m not a fan of the new designs for these characters, especially Supergirl. I get that they went for the classic suit, and that’s fine, but the problem I have is that she doesn’t look like Supergirl to me. She looks more like a 1980’s rock star in a Supergirl costume than she does as Supergirl to me. None of the other heroes look like the heroes they’re suppose to be to me. Its fine for other people to like them, but for me, I miss the previous version. I guess the best way for me to describe my point… Read more »
