Online Reactions to Henry Cavill’s Return as Superman

On the back of Henry Cavill announcing that he is officially back as Superman, there have been some interesting reactions across the internet.

Some so-called “journalists,” with obvious allegiances to the out-going regime at Warner Bros. Pictures, were claiming that Henry’s announcement was nothing more than a bold bid to goad the studio’s executives to give me a new deal, and not an actual official announcement of anything substantial. These people have been shown for what they are…

The official Warner Bros. Entertainment Twitter account posted a “Man of Steel” promotion with the words “Guess Who’s Back?!”

DC’s official Twitter account also weighed in…

Dwayne Johnson, who was instrumental in getting Henry back as Superman, posted his own reaction to Henry’s announcement saying, “We fought for years to bring you back. They always said ‘no’. But to [Dany Garcia], [Hiram Garcia] & myself ‘no’ was not an option. We can’t build out our DCEU w/out the world’s greatest superhero. And fans will always come first. Welcome home. I’ll see you down the road.

Meanwhile, fan reaction across social media has been overwhelmingly positive, with many excited to see what comes next for Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel.

It seems like Hamada and Emmerich were the real road blocks to more Superman on film over the last several years. Glad they are now gone. Hopefully the new execs/filmmakers get it right going forward for Big Blue.

I wish that the new people in charge would give Brandon Routh a streaming Superman series. I mean we have Hoechlin’s Superman on tv, now we’re getting Cavill’s Superman on the big screen again, but as a fan of Routh’s Superman, I can’t help but feel neglected and ignored by WB. I know I’m not the only one who has been asking for Brandon Routh to have a Superman project of some kind. Batman is getting more than one version on the big screen. So how come superman doesn’t get the same amount of attention? We can have more than… Read more »
