Are you a young creative with superhero-level artistic skills? The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has launched an exciting opportunity for aspiring artists aged 12-16 to leave their mark on cinema history with the upcoming “Superman” movie.
This spring, the BBFC has partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures to invite young creatives to design the official Black Card for the upcoming “Superman” film, releasing in cinemas on July 11. The winning design will be shown on screens nationwide before every screening of the film.
What’s a Black Card?
For those unfamiliar, BBFC Black Cards are the classification screens shown before every film in UK cinemas. They display the film’s age rating, content advice, and other important information that helps viewers make informed choices about what they watch.
How to Enter
If you’re between 12-16 years old and have a passion for art and superheroes, here’s your chance to showcase your talents:
- Get inspired: Watch the latest Superman trailers and sneak peek footage to fuel your creativity.
- Create original artwork**: Design your own unique concept inspired by the world of Superman and its characters (yes, super-pets are welcome too!).
- Use the right format**: Create your design on landscape A4 paper or download the official template from the BBFC website.
- Submit your masterpiece**: Either upload your entry through the online submissions portal or mail your original artwork to the BBFC’s London offices (Create The Card Competition, BBFC, 3 Soho Square, London, W1D 3HD).
Important Guidelines
- All artwork must be your own original creation.
- No images taken from films or online sources are permitted.
- AI-generated designs will not be accepted.
- Leave space for the BBFC to add the official elements (age rating symbol, film title, content advice, signatures, and logo).
- Do not add these elements yourself – the BBFC will handle this part.
The Prize
The winner will have their design transformed into the official BBFC Black Card for “Superman”, complete with their signature alongside those of the BBFC President and CEO.
