Warner Bros. Television announced today that Odette Annable has been cast in the role of Reign, the main villain appearing in the first half of Season 3 of “Supergirl”.
In the New 52 era of the “Supergirl” comic book, Reign was known as a Worldkiller, a being created by a group of rogue Kryptonian scientists. Reign and her fellow Worldkillers became enemies of Supergirl when they attempted to conquer Earth. Reign first appeared in Supergirl #5 (2012).
DCComics.com reports that, “Supergirl‘s producers promise that their take on Reign will be part of an exciting interpretation of the Worldkiller storyline, and Annable is the perfect actress for the role.”
According to Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg, “Greg and I have wanted to work with Odette for years. We are beyond excited to have her join our cast in the scary, powerful and heartbreaking role of Reign.”
Unlike previous villains, Reign’s tie to Kryptonian history should present an interesting moral dilemma for Kara to work through: Her people are responsible for their creation. It lends itself to both an exciting and thought-provoking third season.
An actual Supergirl villain, not that I’m on the way out. Oh well.

I wonder if reign will know that she is from krypton. And if she doesn’t know, will it be something that will make her go bad when she finds out? Still wondering if the worldkillers will be a part of next season too.
I’ve been very positive and supportive of seasons 1 and 2 of Supergirl. I accepted and enjoyed some of the changes they made with things. I even own season 1 and 2. But after viewing what I saw as disrespectful treatment of Superman in the season 2 finale, I’ll be skipping season 3 of Supergirl.
