November 5, 2016: Amy Adams Confirms New Superman Movie

In an interview with HeyUGuys promoting her new film “Arrival”, Amy Adams has confirmed once more that a script for a new Superman film is being worked on and that the movie is in development stage.

Back in September Dany Garcia, Henry Cavill’s manager, also confirmed to Newsweek that another Superman film was in active development saying, “He’s filming [Justice League] now, he’s in development for the Superman standalone… he’s beginning to expand that world. It’s beautifully teed up.”

Always good to hear this kind of news……although a little info on who is developing the script would be good to also hear.

I just hope they actually take the time to do revisions on the script before shooting. Both MoS and BvS felt like they just filmed the rough first draft of a script.

I’ve heard some say one of the biggest problems right now is that release dates are set before scripts are even written so everything becomes about meeting that date. As a result it’s all about getting it out the door in time. IIRC James Gunn talked about this at some point.

At this rate, it will be another ten years before the powers that be get their heads together and we get a good Superman movie again.

Nice. Very much looking forward to this. Enjoyed both MOS and BVS UC. Big fan of Henry Cavill’s portrayal. Now, I’ve gotta get back to my comics…

I just hope Snyder is not involved. He just sucks.

Good news like this keep me optimistic that it will happen anytime now. I just wonder who the director will be this time around. I don’t think Snyder will be involved though. The man is probably drained making these films and the backlash he received may also play a major role. As sad as it is, it may be the cause, even though I enjoyed his work.

Totally. If not him, J.J. Abrams. He’s great with balancing sci-fi and drama. Thing is, for now, I can’t trust anyone but Zack. I fear anyone else will take Superman back to his corny, campy media days like with what the producers of the CW have done. Granted, he may not be that way given the tone of the DCEU, but you know, anything can happen…

Don’t mistake a refreshing lack of excess brooding and de-saturation for “corny, campy”. CW Superman was a great and I have a feeling we’re going to see more of him.

Exactly, Matt. Nuance and balance are very important, and the only way I can see the CW version being “Corny” or “Campy” is if one only saw the trailers and didn’t actually watch all of the two episodes… because what’s there combines a good balance both solid character presentation and power fantasy. To really put the character’s best foot forward, both have to be there. As much as the power fantasy aspect gets dismissed, it’s important to remember that it’s pretty much the reason the character exists… which is why something generally feels lacking when it’s absent. And I agree… Read more »

True anything can happen. I would like to see Snyder taking on a round two for he has set up the tone and atmosphere already. But if there will be a new captain steering the ship, who is at best adept at science fiction and fantasy besides Abrams? Spielberg and Cameron will be deemed too good and overqualified. Matt Reeves I could imagine. Your opinions???

Agreed. Cameron and Spielberg could pull it off, but for some reason, I think it’d be best for them to hang back and do their own thing. And Matt Reeves seems like a great choice given the nature of his Cloverfield film. But Zack. He clearly knows the comics mythology (he might perhaps may be even a little obsessed) and the events of both of his films are extremely well-insulated and interconnected. Seriously, the continuity in his films is superior to some comics I read and that’s saying something. I do hope that if he doesn’t serve as director for… Read more »

It’s just a matter of time I suppose. All we can do is stay optimistic.

“Building a better Tomorrow Today” = caption should read under that second picture of Superman and Lois standing.

We can all hope for building the “RIGHT” script to go along with the symbolism…
