November 15, 2016: Zack Snyder Popularity – Poll Results

poll-positionIn the latest Superman Homepage Member Poll we asked you the following question:

Do you want Zack Snyder to direct another Superman movie?

This one was almost split down the middle. 37% were a definite “Yes”, while 35% were a definite “No”. The people who weren’t so sure were 13% leaning towards “Probably Not” and 9% “Probably Yes”… So, over all, 46% would say “Yes” to having Zack Snyder return, while 47% said “No”. As I said, split practically down the middle.

Here’s the complete voting breakdown:

There is no denying his visionary talents, but I just don’t believe he is a good fit for Superman anymore. I would like a director that pays as much attention to story and dialogue as they do to visuals. Superman needs to be the absolute focus in his next solo film and not just an element for the people around him to react to. He needs his own motivations and personality. Let’s see what a new writer and director can bring. I’m also not opposed to letting Henry bring his own ideas to the table as well. I’m sure he… Read more »

I agree. Though I am not 100% apposed to Snyder returning, I do believe that Superman should be the primal focus of his second solo film. I like the way Dan Jurgens has been writing Superman in Action Comics as of late. He is a modern Superman, as well as a father, but has those classic qualities we all know and love about Superman. I don’t see why that cant be portrayed on the big screen!I’d like to see him have fun as Superman, as well as being himself as Clark at the Daily Planet. let me add though, that… Read more »

That’s one of many reasons why I don’t want another Snyder joint. They’ll kill Lois to make Superman go into some stupid bezerker rage and of course guess who will be the one to have to stop him.

Completely agreed. Couldn’t have said it better. The next movie needs to draw from the heart and optimistic nature of the character. You can have a realistic take and still do that.

I never even heard of this poll. Guess I’ve been way too busy with work to devote time to the site. I would like to see Zack tackle another solo Superman film. He had planned on doing a MOS trilogy (made ABUNDANTLY clear in the Ultimate Cut), but WB wanted to start universe-building. If he doesn’t, at least he’ll be responsible for finishing the character’s first cinematic arc in the DCEU in Justice League. I just hope the next filmmaker, while truly devoted to story and visuals, also draws from the comics source material like Zack has. I’d argue he… Read more »

I don’t even remember what I voted in this. I think I voted no? I appreciated Snyder’s vision in these two films, but as far as I’m concerned it’s done now– plus, there is the practical (for me) issue of his style endangering the future of another Henry Superman appearance, which bugs me.

I’d most probably still have him back for another Justice League, though; his kind of eye of comic book visuals on screen is best applied in major events like this.

You know, I just wasn’t satisfied or bowled over by Snyder’s Superman in both films. The costume, Superman’s portrayal, the music, the darkness, the flying effects (take off / landing – making flight believable – Supergirl current series) & general production wasn’t great for me.

The Superman in first two episodes of Supergirl, Brandon Routh’s Superman was great despite film being a little dark. I think Donner set the benchmark & all have failed to reach (even Richard Lester!).

I would be up for a movie featuring Tyler Hoechlin Superman. I would hate it for Henry Cavill though because he’s not actually responsible for the dumb decision making that has gone into the material that he’s been given. I would like to see a new director on board so that I can actually see what Henry can really do in the part.
