May 16, 2019: The CW Announces "Crisis on Infinite Earths" Details

The CW hosted their "Upfronts" in New York today, announcing details on the upcoming new seasons of their superhero TV shows, including information on the upcoming "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover.

While plot details were thin, The CW did announce that "Crisis on Infinite Earths" will be a massive 5-hour event spread over two quarters, spanning five different shows.

It's likely that the story will begin with the mid-season finales of the various superhero shows, such as "Supergirl," "The Flash," "Arrow," "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," and the recently picked up "Batwoman", and then continue when the shows return from that break.

As long-time comic book readers would be aware, "Crisis on Infinite Earths" was written by Marv Wolfman with art by George Pérez. The 12-issue maxiseries reset the history of the DC Universe, collapsing the multiverse in to one single reality. The story was famous for killing off both The Flash/Barry Allen and Supergirl/Kara Zor-El.

The CW also announced that "Supergirl" will move to a Sunday 9pm timeslow for the show's 5th season, making way for "Batwoman" airing at 8.00pm.
