January 8, 2017: No Plans for a Superman TV Series on The CW

When Tyler Hoechlin appeared as Superman for the first two episodes of Season 2 of "Supergirl", fans immediately began talking about the possibility of Superman having his own show on The CW. Unfortunately, according to The CW President Mark Pedowitz, that won't be happening any time soon.

"Tyler did a great job," he said following his panel at the Television Critics Association's press tour on Sunday. "There's no plan to do a series. There are no plans at the moment for him to return [to Supergirl]. If they wish to have him return, we'd love to have him."

When Entertainment Weekly suggested that Superman's prominent role on the big screen - in Warner Bros.' "Batman v Superman," "Justice League" and a planned "Man of Steel" sequel - might mean there's a rights issue, Pedowitz wouldn't even entertain that possibility.

"I can't even answer the question yet because at this time there are no plans to do it and there have been no discussions about it," he said.

Greg Berlanti was a little more optomistic about a Superman TV series starring Tyler Hoechlin. "We'd love to have Tyler back, he's amazing, he was great in the role. In success, I think all those things are possible. I'm always the guy who says 'yes' if there seems to be an appetite for it and the people involved are really nice."
