January 18, 2017: DC Comics Raises Comic Book Prices, Adds Digital Codes

DC Comics announced that the price of 15 "Rebirth" comic book titles will increase from US$2.99 to US$3.99 starting in April. However, a digital code will now be included for that price so that readers can download a digital copy of the comic books affected by the price rise.

Twice-monthly "Rebirth" titles, which include "Superman" and Action Comics", will remain at the US$2.99 price per issue, however other Superman-family titled, including "Super Sons," "Supergirl," "Superwoman," "New Super-Man," and "Trinity" will see a price increase and/or added digital codes starting in April.

"Giving readers value was a key component of our Rebirth initiative, and we're continuing that commitment with this move," John Cunningham, SVP, Sales & Trade Marketing, said in DC's press release announcing the shift. "We've heard from many fans that they like to read and collect our books in both digital and print formats so this new offering gives DC readers the convenience and value pricing they asked for."
