May 9, 2016: Syfy Officially Gives "Krypton" Pilot the Green Light

Krypton Syfy has today announced that it has greenlit a pilot for the "Krypton" TV series.

"Krypton is one of the most iconic stories in the comic book universe," said Bill McGoldrick, Executive Vice President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. "In the talented hands of David S. Goyer and the DC Entertainment/Warner Horizon Television team, this exciting Syfy project will take viewers back to Superman's home to show how the timeless legend began."

From Warner Horizon Television and DC Comics, Krypton takes place years before the Superman legend we know, when the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This drama, which is in development, follows the Man of Steel's grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.

The pilot will be produced by Warner Horizon Television. The pilot is written by David Goyer (Man of Steel) with Ian Goldberg (Once Upon A Time, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). Goyer will executive produce through his company Phantom Four with Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow), who will serve as showrunner. Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) is set to direct the pilot.
