April 27, 2016: "Supergirl" Close to Second Season Renewal

Supergirl In early March, CBS Network CEO Les Moonves told the Deutsche Bank Media, Internet & Telecom Conference that the TV network planned on renewing "Supergirl" for a second season, but no official announcement has been released since.

At the time Moonves was quoted as saying, "We have about five new shows on this year. Of those five, I believe all five of them will be renewed, and we own four of them."

"Supergirl" was obviously that one show not owned by the network, being a Warner Bros. property.

Today Variety reports that "Supergirl" is close to receiving that renewal announcement, but the show wasn't as popular as CBS was hoping.

Freshman drama "Supergirl" wasn't the huge hit some hoped for, but count on it flying into another season - especially after that stellar example of corporate synergy with "The Flash" crossover, which resulted in increased viewership.

Look for an official announcement on "Supergirl" Season Two in the near future.
