June 2, 2016: "Watchmen" Co-Creator Dave Gibbons Comments on "Batman v Superman"

Who Will Win? David Gibbons, co-creator of "Watchmen", spoke about "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" when asked about the film at London's MCM Comic Con this past weekend, saying that he didn't agree with the choices Zack Snyder made for the film.

"I feel that what's happening now with the DC characters in film, to my mind, is going in the wrong direction. I feel that what DC has done, especially with 'Batman v Superman,' is they have really taken a misstep with it."

Gibbons then described his book "World's Finest," which was a Batman vs. Superman-type of story released by DC Comics in 1990. "What I honed in on, and this isn't the only take but it might have helped, is you've got Batman who's a dark, hidden creature who's antagonist is a brightly colored clown. You've got Superman who's a brightly colored figure, with an opponent who is a dark, scheming business man. There has to be a difference." In comparing his book to the new film, Gibbons said,"Where the latest film suffered is because they were both these dark, opaque, angsty creatures."

Gibbons had nothing but praise for Zack Snyder's work on "Watchmen", but obviously wasn't a fan of the director's work on "Batman v Superman".
