July 27, 2016: Geoff Johns Confirmed as President of DC Entertainment

While there's been some talk about this over the past few days, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Geoff Johns, besides also being Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment, also now holds the title of President of DCE.

Diane Nelson also remains President of DC Entertainment, while also being President of Warner Bros. Consumer Products and President and Chief Content Officer of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Johns, who started his career as a personal assistant to Richard Donner, became a fan-favorite comic book writer at DC Comics, and has seen his career and position within the company grow exponentially in recent years.

The new position comes six years after Johns - whose comic book writing resume includes a 50-issue stint on Justice League and lengthy runs on Green Lantern, The Flash and Justice Society of America - was named as the CCO of DC Entertainment, a position which saw him involved in the development of TV shows including The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow in addition to DC's growing movie slate.

As his duties outside of comics grew, his comic book output decreased; in May, his final (for now) comic book titles were released: the 50th issue of Justice League and the oversized DC Universe: Rebirth special issue, which started a massively successful relaunch of DC's superhero line in which creators worked with Johns to find new directions for the characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Arrow.

Congratulations to Geoff Johns on his new position. I think DC Entertainment and the future of the characters we love are in good hands.
