April 12, 2016: "Rebirth" Revealed - Superwoman/Lois Lane, Supergirl, Super Sons and More!

Rebirth While DC Comics has delayed the release of their July 2016 solicitations, the Previews catalogue, which is available today, has all the details fans have been waiting for when it comes to the upcoming DC Comics "Rebirth" event.

When it comes to the Superman-family titles, it appears as though the New 52 Superman really will be gone... dead... as per the story currently playing out in the comics.

The "Action Comics" description in Previews states that Lex Luthor "beat" Superman and is now intent on replacing him as "protector of Metropolis".

"Beating Superman? Easy. Replacing him? Now that's something that'll hurt the Man of Steel's legacy. Seeing an opening to steal away the Man of Steel's most iconic symbol for himself, Luthor turns himself into a true man of tomorrow."

However in the "Superman" title Lex will find himself opposed by the pre-Flashpoint Superman (who we've been reading about in Dan Jurgens' "Superman: Lois and Clark" title), who will come out of hiding to confront Luthor.

"Superman is going to be facing two things that are incredibly important," said Tomasi. "One, of course, is to try to protect his son Jonathan from the world at large, which all parents feel and feel they need to do when their kid is that age. And then there's education, teaching Jonathan how to adjust to the world around him, how to act in the world around him."

Speaking of Jon Kent, he'll be appearing in his own book (alongside Damien Wayne) titled "Super Sons".

Superwoman What about Lois Lane?

Imbued with the powers of Superman, Lois Lane pledges to use her powers to protect Metropolis as the new Superwoman. The only problem is, Lois' new powers are killing her, and neither she nor her friend and confidant Lana Lang know what to do about it. Will Lois even survive long enough to find out the deadly secret of ULTRA-WOMAN?

APPEARING IN: SUPERWOMAN written and drawn by Phil Jimenez

STATUS QUO SHIFT: From star reporter to superhero!

WHY THEY WEAR THE SHIELD: To continue the legacy of Superman and make the world a better place!

As for "Supergirl", we now know that Kara is back and working for the DEO (Department of Extranormal Operations) to defend National City from those who would do it harm.

"As Kara Danvers, average American high school student, Supergirl must balance her life as a superhero with her new life on Earth. But some demons from her Kryptonian past are coming back to haunt her, and Kara willfind herself making the toughest choices of her young life!"

And what of the Chinese Superman we'll be reading about in the "New Super-Man" comic book by Gene Yang?

"Throughout Chinese history, great figures of tremendous importance built China into a powerhouse of community and industrial strength. So wait'll they get a load of Kenji Kong! When an impulsive act of heroism thrusts the arrogant young Kenji into the limelight of Shanghai, some very important people take notice. The Ministry of Self Reliance is building its very own Justice League of China, and Kenji is primed to become the New Super-Man."

Look for the DC Comics July Solicitations to be released online in full in the coming days.
