June 3, 2015: Hutchinson to Become Smallville For Third Year Running

Hutchinson In 2013 the town of Hutchinson, Kansas officially renamed itself "Smallville" for one day, to celebrate Superman's connection with the state, with the small town closely resembling what many would imagine Clark Kent's home town to look like. For the third year running, promoters have successfully petitioned the City Council to expand that celebration from two days to four.

For the third consecutive year, Hutchinson will symbolically change its name to Smallville fictional home of Clark Kent, also known as Superman later this month.

Mayor Jade Piros de Carvalho, wearing a Superman T-shirt, read a proclamation to make the change to "Smallville, Kansas - The Home of Clark Kent" from June 18 to 21, at Tuesday's City Council meeting.

The renaming is in conjunction with the Smallville Festival, followed by the Smallville ComicCon that takes place at the same time.
