April 21, 2015: Go to Metropolis, Illinois for the 2015 Superman Celebration

Superman Celebration 2015 Get ready for four days of super fun at the 37th Annual Superman Celebration in Metropolis, IL. Celebrating all things Super, the schedule is filled with events for young and old.

Prepare to be amazed by a unique show with Morgan Strebler, one of the world's leading experts and performers in the field of Psycho Kinectic magic. Using only the power of the mind, PK is the ability to physically alter or affect various objects. Morgan's show has been on TV and performed in 75 countries. Morgan will have shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Entertaining the crowds again this year, is K-9 Crew Trick Dog show. An ultimate high-energy canine thrill show, featuring husband & wife team of Tony and Sarah Hoard. The "K-9" Crew has performed on Good Morning Show, Animal Planet, America's Got Talent season 4, along with NBA, MLB, NFL & College Teams.

Making a return trip to Metropolis is the amazing riders of Freestyle Connection. Their action packed BMX bike show will keep you on the edge of your seat with heart stopping tricks in midair on ramps and box jumps.

For the comic book fans, the Superman Celebration welcomes featured guests including writer Kurt Busiek known for his work on the Marvel's limited series, his own award winning title "Astro City", and his four year run on The Avengers. Working for D.C. Comics, Busiek wrote a 52-issue weekly DC miniseries titled Trinity, starring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Joining Busiek is artist and writer Mike Norton, known for his work on Runaways and Gravity. Norton is also known for his web comic "Battle Pug". In February 2007, Norton signed an exclusive contract with DC and has worked on the All New Atom, written by Gail Simone. He took over pencil duties on Green Arrow/Black Canary from issue 7, worked on several issues of Countdown to Final Crisis, illustrated a fill-in issue of Blue Beetle #26 and contributed to the backup stories in DC's weekly series, Trinity.

Also appearing at the Celebration is Artist Alex Saviuk who began his professional career at DC Comics illustrating such titles as Green Lantern, The Flash and Superman. Saviuk later moved to Marvel where he established himself as a key Spider-man artist. Since 1997, Saviuk has drawn The Amazing Spider-Man Sunday newspaper comic strip, written by Stan Lee. In 1997-1998, he spent a one-year stint at Topps Comics drawing The X-Files until the end of its run.

Saturday nights entertainment features the comic genius of Scott Long. Scott has appeared in major comedy clubs in over forty states and has appeared on NBC, Fox and ESPN. Scott has also performed radio on such programs as The Bob and Tom Show. He has written sketches for NFL on the Fox PreGame show. Scott will be performing at the Baymont Theater prior to the Save The Massac Benefit Auction. The auction will feature super hero related items for bid with all proceeds going towards the renovation of Metropolis' 1938 Art Deco Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce or at the door.

This year's Fan Film Festival proves to be the biggest one yet with over 50 fan films entered from 17 countries. Films will be shown at the Baymont Theater Thursday evening, Friday and Sunday, with the top films being awarded Friday evening.

Filling out the schedule for the weekend are the Kid's Superhero Costume Contest, the Beautiful Baby Contest, an eating contest, Superman trivia and new this year, the Great Metropolis Puzzler Contest. For the athletes attending, the Celebration has the Kiwanis Super Trek Bike Ride, the Supercity Crossfit Challenge, the Superman Road Race & Fun Walk, a Disc Golf Tournament and the Superman Classic Push/Pull Competition. Sunday's featured events are the Hero's and Villains Costume contest, and the Rotary Car Show.
