September 15, 2013: Help Sought for Siegel/Shuster Film

Joe Shuster's nephew is looking to create a documentary/film about the story of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and the creation of Superman.

Peary said he met Palacioz in the mid-1990s, and they started talking about his ties to Superman.

"A spark went off, and we said the story needs to be told about the birth of Superman," he said.

The two men began researching Shuster and Siegel and writing a screenplay. They ended up with three different screenplays based on the Superman legacy.

After attempts to get funding and major studio backing for their screenplay, Palacioz and Peary are reaching outside Hollywood for support.

Palacioz said they are looking for a producer who could sign a production deal and get funding, active investors who are knowledgeable about movie production, actors and people with film editing and production experience.

While there have been several blockbuster Superman movies and the promise of the "Superman vs. Batman" film in 2015, Peary said the films are "wonderful fantasizes, but the untold story is (the creators') life story."

"We are bound and determined to tell this story," he said.
