Noel Neill Statue More bricks to be ordered for Noel Neill statue plaza in conjunction with Noel's upcoming 90th birthday

METROPOLIS, IL: Metropolis' Noel Neill statue was unveiled in June and has been attracting many visitors ever since. The near life-size statue of the woman most famous for her portrayal of Lois Lane, is the centerpiece of a small corner plaza at Eighth and Market streets that features hundreds of personalized bricks.

Since the unveiling ceremony, The Metropolis Chamber of Commerce has accepted more brick orders from many fans and local residents. Another group of personalized bricks will be ordered soon to add to the plaza. Orders will be accepted until Sept. 30 at the same price as the original bricks.

"Now is a great time to place your order," says Clyde Wills, Metropolis Chamber of Commerce President. "Engraved bricks are available for $75 each and are a great way for individuals and families to be a part of this historic project," he said. With the additional expense incurred by pulling up bricks and replacing them with new engraved one, the cost for future brick orders may increase. Any orders received after Sept. 30 will be held until a substantial number of orders are received for the next engraving.

The City of Metropolis and fans all over the world will be sending special birthday wishes to Ms. Neill soon as she will be turning 90 years old in November. Neill has been receiving many get well wishes over the last two months as she is currently recovering from a broken hip.

"The addition of more bricks to Noel's statue plaza is sure to lift her spirits," say Metropolis Tourism Director Angie Shelton. Shelton also says that get well and birthday wishes may be sent to Neill at the following address: Noel Neill, 4421 N. Bear Canyon Rd., Tucson, AZ 85749.

Personalized bricks may be purchased at the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce at 607 Market St. in Metropolis. The bricks are 4"x8" will hold three lines of up to 13 characters each.
