June 12, 2010: Noel Neill "Lois Lane" Statue Unveiled
The Noel Neill "Lois Lane" statue was unveiled yesterday in Metropolis, Illinois during the 2010 Superman Celebration.
- Neill, best known for her role in movies and on television as reporter Lois Lane, met artist Gary Ernest Smith, who created her likeness.
The revenue from all bricks and commemorative plaques helped pay for the sculpting and the placement of the statue.
The statue commemorates Neill's contributions as the "First Lady of Metropolis." It stands on the corner at 8th and Market Streets.
