April 17, 2010: Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo - Day 1 Report
By Barry FreimanIf Day One of C2E2 is any indication, it isn't a particularly good time to be a Superman oriented fan when it comes to DC Comics/DC Entertainment. Superman rated barely a mention at the DC Nation Panel today. There was a brief mention of the Earth/Krypton war. And a question about the Earth One Superman and Batman books solicited an answer principally about Batman's fluidity and Superman's alleged rigidity as a character. And that was about it.
Superman wasn't even included on any of the posters and murals decorating the DC Comics booth at the convention. The mainstream characters with the most visibility right now appear to be Batman and Green Lantern.
Nonetheless, Superman clearly has value to DC as an icon with many of their new DC Direct items showcasing the Man of Steel and his teammates.
I hope the Man of Steel fares better at DC's panels during the remainder of the weekend.
