JLA #17

January 18, 2008: Alan Burnett Talks “JLA”, & “The Batman” Animated Series

Comicon's The Pulse sat down with writer Alan Burnett to talk to him about his run on the "Justice League of America" comic book title, while also asking him about the JLA on "The Batman" animated series.

Q: How did working with the variety of characters you used recently in the pages of Superman/Batman help pave the way for the adventure you're telling in Justice League of America?

BURNETT: The Superman/Batman story was pretty contained character-wise compared to this. My first 15-page JLA story has at least that many villains, plus the League, plus Waller, plus a half-dozen other costumed characters. It's a bodysuit buffet. I saw Benes' work on the first issue and was amazed by his ability to choreograph everything.

Q: Speaking of Superman and Batman, what's coming up in the animated adventures of the Dark Knight, The Batman series? We've seen a lot of heroes guest staring ... is this leading the way to another Justice League series?

BURNETT: February 2, Kids WB! will feature our last non-team-up Batman story for "The Batman." The villains are the Terrible Trio with Professor Langstrom thrown in as well. Then eventually we'll see a Hawkman team-up and a two-parter with the entire League. As for "The Batman" leading to another Justice League series, I wouldn't bet the bank account.
