Blue Box

February 17, 2008: “Superman: The Music” Photo Revealed

The latest issue of Film Score Monthly's FSM Online has revealed the first look at the packaging for the upcoming "Superman: The Music (1978-1988)" collectors' score set (known informally as the "Blue Box"). FSM Online Volume 13, Issue 2 is largely devoted to the Blue Box and kicks off three months of articles devoted to the new set. This month includes articles on the restoration of the complete scores to "Superman II" and "Superman III", and includes an interview with conductor Ken Thorne who adapted John Williams's themes for "Superman II" and "Superman III".

Jim Bowers of Caped Wonder designed the packaging for the Blue Box.

CORRECTION: Jim Bowers of Caped Wonder did not design the packaging for the Blue Box. According to FSM's Mike Mattesino: "Jim Bowers consulted with us and supplied some imagery for our project, but he did not design the box or the packaging for the Superman music box set. Joe Sikoryak of Designwell in Berkeley, CA is the designer. He does all of FSM's packages and also those for the Intrada label. Secondly, the images shown in Film Score Monthly do not show what the box actually looks like. What is being shown is a graphic that was put together by Joe Sikoryak for the Screen Archives order page, one that conforms to their normal template."
