October 9, 2007: Chris Darley Talks “Legends of the Superheroes”

JusticeLeagueOnFilm.com has published an audio interview with Chris Darley, co-director on the campy 1979 "Legends of the Superheroes" 2-part TV special.

Back in January of 1979, NBC aired what was more or less the first live action version of the Justice League in the form of Legends of the Superheroes, a two-part special consisting of Legends as well as Challenge of the Superheroes. In a lot of ways, these two campy, video-taped "adventures" defy explanation -- though we'll give it a shot. Challenge has members of the JLA trying to stop a group of villains, led by Dr. Sivana, from setting off a doomsday machine. Legends, on the other hand, is more in the style of a bizarre roast. The highlight at the time was no doubt the fact that Adam West and Burt Ward reprised their respective roles of Batman and Robin from the 1960s ABC series, bringing along Frank Gorshin as the Riddler. Other DC heroes involved include Green Lantern, the Flash, Captain Marvel, the Huntress and Hawkman. For more details on the show, you can go HERE. But before you do that, check out this interview with co-director Chris Darley.
