April 19, 2007: Superman Homepage Writer Working on Smallville Magazine!

Hey, everyone! Neal Bailey here.

GREAT news! I've been pretty tight-lipped about this for more than a month now, because I wasn't supposed to let the cat out of the bag, but I have permission to break the news now:

I'm working for DC! Geek-true o-fficially!

I'm going to be writing fiction for Smallville: The Official Magazine, and the first issue I'm in will be issue 22. I can't reveal story details as of yet, but I can say I'll be writing all of the characters I've been dreaming about writing since I was a small kid.

There are also other items in the works. I'll bring you details as I can.

We'll keep you up to date with information on when this particular issue goes on sale, but in the meantime, please understand that I can't, won't, and flat-out shouldn't reveal any of the spoilers, so asking is a gesture of futility. BUT, I can say that it will be awesome, and totally worth the wait, I promise you, and involves a plotline that will kick you so hard your kids will be born in the distant past. And dizzy. And cross-eyed. With eye lasers.

A sincere THANK YOU to all of you who have supported me for the last seven years, keeping me writing until the point at which a DC editor kindly took notice. I swear to you that I won't betray that trust, and will punch forth with plots without mercy, descriptions of vengeance, and, you know, occasional monkey humor.

We were going to make this an April Fool's joke that came true, but I figured this might be better.

Rock and roll!

In the meantime, I highly recommend you pick up the magazine on the stands right now that came out today, to get a feel for what's coming, if you'd like. My bud Jake Black, a fine writer in his own right, has put together a story that puts to rest a lot of nagging issues of continuity that you all write me about, involving backstory for Genevieve Teague, Dr. Swann, and even some young Lionel action. It rocks, I've read it myself, and it's well worth the price of admission.

You can subscribe to the "Smallville" magazine at the TitanMagazines.com website or purchase the magazine from your local comic shop or newsstand.
