John Frederick

February 6, 2007: Non-Reply From John Frederick

Back on January 5, the Superman Homepage reported on John Frederick who claimed to have portrayed Clark Kent and Superman for 18 unaired episodes of TV's "Adventures of Superman". Since then, we have attempted to contact Frederick for an interview. Last week, we finally received the following hand-written response from someone claiming to be his healthcare provider:

"On his upcoming birthday Mr. Frederick will be 91. He can no longer give interviews but wants to thank you for your interest in his career."

It would appear that the only person who can verify Frederick's claim is Frederick himself and that is no longer possible. Nonetheless, neither Noel Neill nor Jack Larson have any recollection of working with anyone other than George Reeves as Clark Kent and Superman.

Also, the Superman Homepage has received larger versions of the photographs of Frederick supposedly dressed like Clark and like Superman. Frederick's Superman costume looks quite different from George Reeves' union suit - it has more in common with the Captain Marvel suit worn in that hero's Republic serial than any Superman costume.
