March 24, 2007: Celebrating the Music of John Williams

When it comes to movie music, there's everyone else, and there's John Williams. Besides the well known Superman theme, John Williams is responsible for bringing us the music for Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harry Potter, Saving Private Ryan, Jaws, The Poseidon Adventure, Schindler's List, The Towering Inferno, Jurassic Park, Home Alone, E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. He's been nominated for more than 40 Oscars, won Emmys, Grammys and Golden Globes and wrote the fanfares for the 1984, '88, '96 and '02 Olympics.

Michael Krajewski leads the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra in a program of Williams' greatest hits tonight (Saturday) at 8pm at the Times-Union Center for Performing Arts in Jacksonville, FL. To add to the fun, the symphony is inviting patrons to come dressed as their favorite character from a John Williams-scored movie. Better dust off that Superman costume!

Tickets are $25 to $65. For more information, call (904) 354-5547.
