August 10, 2007: Wizard World Chicago - DC Nation Panel

Friday at Wizard World Chicago saw DC hold their first panel, the "DC Nation" panel.

Here are some Superman related highlights coming out of the panel:

"Final Crisis", written by Grant Morrison and drawn by J.G. Jones, is slated for a May 2008 release.

Dan DiDio called Countdown: Arena "the ultimate fanboy moment". The series will be released in December and will come out weekly. You'll see three versions of characters such as Superman and Batman fighting each other to become part of Monarch's army. Fans will vote for the winners.

DiDio also made not that "Final Crisis" is the final part of a three-part structure for the DC Universe, with "Identity Crisis" and "Infinite Crisis" being the first two parts. "Final Crisis takes everything we're doing and puts a nice, neat bow on it," he said.

Regarding the legal issues surrounding Superboy, Bob Wayne said "When's there something we feel comfortable saying about it, we will."

Look for the long-awaited "Action Comics Annual" to be released in January.

"All Star Superman" may well continue on after Grant Morrison's run. Stay tuned for news on that.
