June 17, 2007: Superman Comic News from Wizard World Philadelphia

While we wait for Neal Bailey's report on Day 2 of the Wizard World Philadelphia convention, here's some comic books news relating to Superman from the convention.

DC Comics held two Superman-related panels at Wizard World Philadelphia yesterday, the DCU Panel and the World's Finest Panel. Here are some interesting items to come out of these panels...

Dustin Nguyen revealed that quite a few Fourth World characters who haven't been seen for some time (such as Highfather), will turn up in up-coming around in a while, like Highfather, will turn up in future "Superman/Batman" books. Editor Eddie Berganza added that Scarecrow and Killer Croc will also be included, with the story having ties with the weekly "Countdown" series.

Look for a saga revolving around the search for kryptonite this December, with "Heroes" TV writer Michael Green set to team up with artist Shane Davis. Davis recently signed an exclusive contract with DC Comics revealed Eddie Berganza.

"I'm so excited I get to draw so many key characters in the DC Universe," said Davis.

Berganza also said there will be new colors of Kryptonite revealed in "Superman/Batman".

"This arc is becoming really important to something else," Berganza added. "Something will be building on each of the storylines."

Superman will be in Hell come "Superman #666", with the story arc set to be drawn by legendary artist Walt Simonson.

Dan Didio responded with "I have no comment on that right now" when asked whether "Superman: Birthright" was still considered Superman's origin story in the DCU at the moment.

Tony Bedard and Rags Morales are teaming on a four-part "Superman Confidential" story.

Joe Kelly's last issue as writer of "Supergirl" is #19, followed by an arc written by Tony Bedard and then a yet-to-be announced new creative team.
