March 8, 2007: Brad Meltzer “Justice League of America” Interview

WizardUniverse.com has published an interview with "Justice League of America" writer Brad Meltzer to ask him how things are going on the monthly comic book and where things are headed after the first arc is done. Here's a portion of the interview...

You mentioned how you liked having Solomon Grundy as the mystery villain when everybody thought it was Amazo - why Grundy?

MELTZER: It was the only character that made sense with what the motivation was. It was somebody who wanted to live forever and had a very good reason for wanting that as opposed to somebody that just wanted to take over the world. I'm not a big fan of the "Pinky and the Brain" scheme. I try to come from much more emotional places. To me, the idea of always dying and coming back a little bit less than what you were previously, with that I could completely understand why Solomon Grundy acts as he does. It's the same way I absolutely understand why Red Tornado wants to be a real man when he has this beautiful wife and adoring daughter. Until I get the motivations down, there is no story.
