March 26, 2004: ABC Family Lands “Smallville” Rights

Zap2It.com have learnt that cable's ABC Family has acquired rerun rights to dozens of series, movies and specials produced by Warner Bros., headlined by "Smallville."

The teen-Superman series, the No. 2 show on The WB (behind "7th Heaven"), will begin its off-network run on ABC Family in the fall. The cable channel has rights to the show for several years.

"'Smallville' is a great addition to ABC Family's lineup this fall," says Mark Silverman, ABC Family's general manager and senior vice president. "'Smallville' has a loyal audience, thematic appeal for today's families, and will serve as a strong anchor to complement original programming."
