Smallville Season 3

January 25, 2004: Smallville vs American Idol

There has been some speculation and concern surrounding the fact that "Smallville" is going up against the first half hour of the new series of "American Idol". Will ratings suffer? Will "Smallville" suffer the same fate as NBC's "The Apprentice" and move to a Thursday time slot?

The Superman Homepage got in touch with the Executive Producer of "Smallville", Al Gough, and asked him all about it. Here's what Al had to say:

"American Idol is a phenomenon that is hard to beat. However, we will only be going up against the half hour results show from 8:30 to 9.00pm... it'll take some audience but we just have to weather the storm."

As for the possibility of the WB bringing back the Sunday "Easyview", repeating the Wednesday night episodes?

"The WB airs the season one episodes on Sundays under the title Smallville Beginnings, they no longer do the reaired easy view as they now have Everwood and One Tree Hill to service as well."
