April 13, 2004: New DC Comics Trading Card Game

Look for classic DC Comics characters such as Superman, Batman, The Joker, Catwoman, Plastic Man and many more, in the new DC Comics Trading Card Game (TCG) from Upper Deck Entertainment. The DC Comics TCG will utilize new vs. Game SystemTM and be available in hobby shops nationwide in July.

Upper Deck Entertainment, a division of The Upper Deck Company, will utilize DC Comics' timeless character library to create a special line of trading card games that will feature the ever-popular characters in skillfully drawn renderings aimed at providing enjoyable play and high collectability. In addition, each card will contain all original artwork by many of the biggest names in the industry.

The DC Comics TCG allows players to assume the identities of their favorite DC Super Heroes and DC Villains from the DC character portfolio as they wage head-to-head battles against each other. Additionally, The DC Comics TCG will incorporate high-strategy gameplay, evolving game mechanics, and an extensive national organized play support system. Each starter set will include two 40-card decks with everything that players will need to begin playing the game. Also, those players looking to increase the strength of their decks can purchase 14-card booster packs. The DC Comics TCG was designed specifically to support multiplayer play, complimenting the traditional one-on-one competition format. The game was carefully balanced to support sealed-pack and booster draft formats. Development of the game included testing by top professional TCG players around the world to ensure the game is carefully balanced for high-level competition, as well as casual play.
