Superman/Batman #8

March 18, 2004: DC Comics Rushes Sold-Out “Superman/Batman #8” Back to Press

SUPERMAN/BATMAN #8, the highly anticipated first chapter of the 6-part story "The Supergirl from Krypton," has sold out at DC Comics two days before its in-store date of March 17. This issue is written by Jeph Loeb with art and cover by Michael Turner.

"Obviously, I'm astonished and delighted," says Loeb. "I thank the retailers who have believed in this book from the start and continue to support it. Having seen the fully colored final, I know, just as a fan, Mike Turner and Peter Steigerwald have created something very, very special. So, if you're a fan of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and a certain Girl who is Super, enjoy the ride."

"I am so excited that the last six months of work is finally coming out," says Turner. "I would like to personally thank everyone here at Aspen and everyone at DC for making this one of the most fun projects I have ever worked on. I can't wait until everyone sees the amazing colors by my partner in crime Peter Steigerwald. We are trying a lot of new things with pencils, painted colors and special effects, and I hope you like them! Again, thanks!"

The new printing features an alternate version of Michael Turner's cover from this issue, presenting the original pencils without inking or coloring.

"The response to this storyline has been overwhelmingly positive," says Bob Wayne, DC's VP - Sales & Marketing. "We urge retailers to place orders for the second printing as soon as possible, and to look at orders on upcoming issues as well."

SUPERMAN/BATMAN #8 Second Printing is available for order now and is scheduled to arrive in stores on April 7 with a cover price of $2.95 U.S. This new printing has an order increase cut-off date of Sunday, March 28.

Upcoming issues of SUPERMAN/BATMAN are available as follows:

  • SUPERMAN/BATMAN #9 is solicited in the February issue of Previews and is scheduled to arrive in stores on April 21.

  • SUPERMAN/BATMAN #10 is solicited in the March issue of Previews and is scheduled to arrive in stores on May 19.
